About Suzanne MacNeil

A life-long resident of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Suzanne MacNeil grew up in Glace Bay and has made Ashby her home in recent years. MacNeil completed an International Baccalaureate certificate at Sydney Academy in 2002 and has studied at Cape Breton University and worked in Cape Breton in the decade since graduation.

A member of the Canadian Freelance Union (CEP Local 2040), MacNeil serves as the President of the Cape Breton District Labour Council and as the labour representative on the Board of Directors of United Way Cape Breton.

Suzanne's priorities for strong schools and healthy communities include:

• Advocate for our school board on the provincial level. The current funding formula is unfair for communities in the Cape Breton - Victoria Regional School Board area, and needs to be changed.

• Work to build partnerships with other government departments and organizations to best serve the needs of our students.

• Seek regular feedback from constituents, parents, and stakeholder across the board. Accessibility is a priority.

• Make sure that our schools embrace and celebrate the diversity of both students and education workers.

Suzanne can be reached by phone at 902-270-5561 or via email at Suzanne@SuzanneMacNeil.ca
